This project was completed in the summer of 2025, inspired by DW’s popular Apex Predator helmet. Our concept focused on evolving the original design with enhanced functionality and visibility, making it more suitable for real combat scenarios.

The LED system received a completely new layout, adopting an “X-pattern” that seamlessly integrates with the updated visor. This advanced configuration redefines the visual language of the Apex series and gives the helmet a distinctive, futuristic presence. One of the most significant engineering challenges was the multi-directionally curved, tinted visor. Manufactured from reinforced 3mm material, ensuring consistent production and durability required extensive development and precision. On each side of the helmet, we integrated custom-made ear guard mounts with lateral adjustment capabilities, adding both protection and modularity. Internally, a voice modulation system was embedded, enhancing immersion and adding a sci-fi layer to the experience during use. The electronics, LED control, switches, and battery units are all housed in a dedicated, project-specific external control box – also custom-designed to match the helmet’s aesthetics and functionality. Both the helmet and control box are constructed from glass fiber reinforced ABS, ensuring high resilience and durability in rugged environments.

This piece marks the foundational prototype of the future Apex series – a bold first step into a new era of tactical and immersive headgear.
